People think that depression simply means having the “blues,” but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You can also feel tired, angry, hopeless, or anxious, and have “brain fog” and physical aches and pains. Sleep problems and undereating or overeating are big red flags, too. Then there’s what I call “kicking yourself”—wallowing in self-blame or feelings of worthlessness. All of these are symptoms that can point to depression.

Food can play a powerful role in fighting depression. These are my favorite foods to fight depression:

    • Eggs
    • Oatmeal
    • Blueberries
    • Fatty fish
    • Colorful vegetables
    • Probiotic vegetables
    • Red Meat
    • Dark Chocolate
    • Turmeric
    • Bone Broth
    • Nuts

Depression is an epidemic and it’s hitting millions of Americans hard. Learn how to combat it through your food choices.
