Hormone-balancing smoothie that tastes like a holiday snickerdoodle! Prep time: 5 min • Yield: 1 servings Ingredients: ¾ cup frozen cauliflower florets ½ cup unsweetened coconut yogurt 1 scoop Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth Protein Powder-Vanilla 1 tbsp raw macadamia butter 1 tbsp maca powder 1 tbsp ground flaxseed ½ tsp cinnamon 1 tsp pure vanilla extract ½” ginger knob, peeled 1 cup macadamia nut milk or any nut milk 3-4 ice cubes   Blend all ingredients until smooth.  Pour into a glass, and enjoy whenever you are craving something sweet!

Delicious and Nutritious Beef Bone Broth Recipe

Here's our delicious yet simple beef bone broth recipe. Give it a try and we think you'll fall in love with it! Prep time: 10 min • Cook time: 12 to 24 hr • Yield: 12 servings Ingredients 2 unpeeled carrots, scrubbed and roughly chopped 2 stalks celery, including leafy part, roughly chopped 1 medium onion, roughly chopped 7 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed 3½ pounds grass-fed beef bones (preferably joints and knuckles) 2 dried bay leaves 2 teaspoons kosher salt 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar Directions Place all the vegetables and the garlic, bones and bay leaves into a large pot on the stove or in a slow cooker. Sprinkle on the salt, drizzle with vinegar, and add enough water to cover everything by 1 inch (about 13 cups). Cook for 12 to 24 hours on low. Use a shallow spoon to carefully skim the film off the top of the broth. Pour the broth through a fine strainer and discard the solids. Taste the broth and add more salt as needed. The broth will keep for 3 days in the fridge and 3 months in your freezer. Substitute: Feel free to substitute chicken, fish or pork bones or to combine them all. Also, adding dried mushrooms or using 2 tablespoons of fish sauce in place of salt (add it in Step 1) dramatically enhances the flavor of the broth. Duck Bone Broth

If you're comfortable making bone broth now and want to try something a little different why not try duck bone broth. It has a richer flavor than chicken bone broth and works great in all kinds of soups. Prep: 15 min • Cook: 4 to 6 hrs • Total Time: 6-8 hrs  • Yield: varies depending on pot size; these ingredients are sufficient for 2 to 3 quarts broth Ingredients: 2 duck carcasses 6 to 8 chicken feet or 1 pig's foot (optional) Enough purified cold water to just cover the bones in the pot; the pot should be big enough to add 2 to 3 quarts of water ¼ cup apple cider vinegar 2 to 4 large carrots, scrubbed and roughly chopped 3 to 4 stalks of organic celery, including the leafy part, roughly chopped 1 medium onion, cut into large chunks 1 clove garlic 2 teaspoons black peppercorns Small bunch of fresh herbs such as parsley, sprigs of thyme and rosemary, bay leaf, and marjoram Put duck carcasses into a roasting pan and place in a preheated 400º oven. Roast duck for one hour until the bones are well browned. This step isn't necessary, but it greatly enhances the flavor of duck bone broth. Place all the bones in a slow cooker or large stockpot. Add the vinegar and enough purified water to cover everything by 1 inch. Cover the pot. On medium heat, bring the water to a simmer. Use a shallow, wooden spoon to carefully skim the film off the top of the broth. If you are cooking in a crock pot, you will have to wait until the water gets warm before skimming, but you can continue with the next step. Add all the remaining ingredients and reduce the heat to low. You want the broth to barely simmer. Skim occasionally over the first 2 hours, and be sure the bones stay beneath the water. You may have to add water during the cooking process. Cook for at least 4 hours or up to 6. Turn off the cooker or remove the pot from the heat. Using tongs or a large, slotted spoon, remove all the bones. Pour the broth through a fine mesh strainer and discard the solids. Let cool on the counter before refrigerating. You can skim off the fat easily after the broth is chilled. If you do skim off the fat, retain it for roasting vegetables. When chilled, the broth should be very gelatinous. The broth will keep for five days in the refrigerator and three or more months in your freezer. Notes: You use chicken feet or a pig's foot for the cartilage, which is necessary for good broth and the health benefits of gelatin, collagen, and calcium. Neither chicken nor pig's feet will impart flavor to the broth. If you use chicken feet, you must remove the outer yellow skin if the butcher has not already done so. To do this, immerse them in boiling water for 10 to 20 seconds, and they will peel easily. If you cook them any longer, peeling them is nearly impossible because they become rubbery. It's also easier to peel them before they are frozen. You can cut off the claws if you choose. If your crock pot is small (2 quarts or less), you can cut back on the quantities in the recipe. Measurements need not be specific in making broth. However, you'll have less work to do if you use a large kettle or stockpot on the stovetop. Prep time: 15 min • Cook time: 25 min • Yield: 4 to 6 servings Ingredients 2 tablespoons ghee or pasture-raised butter 1 garlic clove, minced 2 leeks, white and pale green parts only, thinly sliced 4 cups homemade chicken bone broth or Dr. Kellyann Bone Broth 1/2 cup canned unsweetened full-fat coconut milk 3 cups cauliflower florets 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme 1 teaspoon Celtic or pink Himalayan salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more for serving 1/2 teaspoon arrowroot powder, blended with 1 tablespoon water, plus more if needed Directions In a large stockpot, melt ghee over medium-high heat. Add garlic and leeks, and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring, for 6 to 8 minutes, until softened.  Raise heat to medium-high and add bone broth, coconut milk, cauliflower, thyme, salt, and pepper. When soup begins to simmer, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, until cauliflower is cooked through.  Purée with an immersion blender, blender, or food processor until smooth and creamy. Return to stockpot and stir in arrowroot mixture. Simmer for 3 to 5 minutes, until soup thickens, adding more arrowroot if a thicker soup is desired. When autumn shows her glorious colors, we think of all things pumpkin, and this soup is no exception. It's a hearty, warming, and aromatic soup perfect for the cooler days. It's also fabulous the next day, after the spices have had time to meld and mingle, enhancing the flavors even more. Scroll down for Dr. Kellyann diet/program compatibility. Prep time: 20 min • Cook time: 25 min • Yield: 4 servings Ingredients 1 tablespoon coconut oil, ghee, or pasture-raised butter 1 medium onion, diced (about 1 1/2 cups) 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and minced 2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon ground coriander 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes 2 (15-ounce) cans pumpkin (not pie filling), or about 4 cups roasted pumpkin 4 cups homemade chicken bone broth or Dr. Kellyann's Liquid Chicken Bone Broth, OR 4 packets powdered Bone Broth and 32 ounces of water 1 (15-ounce) can unsweetened full-fat coconut milk 1 1/2 teaspoons Celtic or pink Himalayan salt 2 tablespoons toasted pumpkin seed, for garnish (optional) Directions In a large stockpot, melt coconut oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and celery, and sauté for 3 to 5 minutes, until onions are translucent. Add ginger, cumin, coriander, cardamom, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 5 minutes, or until spices are fragrant.  Add pumpkin and bone broth, and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Puree mixture until smooth. (Please use caution when blending hot liquids!) Return mixture to stockpot, stir in coconut milk, and warm through. Add salt and pepper and taste to adjust the seasoning. Serve immediately. Prep time: 30 min • Yield: 4 servings Ingredients 5 cups watermelon, peeled, seeded, and roughly chopped, plus 1 cup cut into 1⁄4- to 1⁄2-inch dice 1 cup homemade chicken/beef broth or Dr. Kellyannʼs Chicken Bone Broth 1⁄2 English cucumber, peeled, seeded, and diced 3⁄4 cup celery, diced (about 2 ribs) 3⁄4 cup red bell pepper, diced (1 medium red pepper) 1⁄4 cup red onion, diced (1⁄2 small red onion) 1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, minced 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, minced 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 lime) 11⁄2 tablespoons sherry vinegar 1 tablespoon jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (1 small pepper) Mint leaves for garnish (optional) Directions Puree 5 cups of watermelon plus the broth in a blender until mixture is smooth. Pour through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl and discard pulp. You should have about 4 cups of strained liquid. Add cucumber, celery, bell pepper, onion, herbs, lime juice, vinegar, jalapeño, and remaining cup of chopped watermelon to blended liquid. Stir to combine. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled, at least 1 hour. Garnish with mint (optional). Gazpacho should be eaten within 1 day. Add the garlic and onion and reduce the heat to medium-­low. Cook, stirring, for 6 to 8 minutes, until softened. Raise the heat to medium-­high and add the broth, coconut milk, broccoli, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. When the soup begins to simmer, reduce the heat to medium-­low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until the broccoli is cooked through. Purée with a hand-­held immersion blender, blender, or food processor until smooth and creamy. Serve warm.

Chicken and "Rice" Soup

Ingredients 2 tablespoons ghee or pasture raised butter 1 small onion (about 1/2 cup), diced 4 to 5 cups cauliflower, 1 medium head, chopped or pulsed in food processor into rice-sized pieces (measure after it has been processed) 2 ribs celery, diced 2 medium carrots, diced 4 cups Chicken Bone Broth  1 can unsweetened full fat coconut milk, 13 1/2 to 15 ounces 1/4 cup fresh parsley, coarsely chopped 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, or about 1/2 teaspoon dried 1 1/2 teaspoons Celtic or pink Himalayan salt 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper DirectionsMelt ghee/butter in a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Add onion and reduce heat to medium-low. Sauté for three to five minutes until translucent. Add cauliflower, celery and carrots and cook for about eight minutes until vegetables are tender. Add bone broth, coconut milk, parsley and thyme and bring to a boil. Immediately reduce heat to low and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes to heat through. Add salt and pepper and adjust seasonings to taste. Serve immediately.

Ingredients: 1 cup water, coconut milk (not canned) or almond milk, unsweetened and carrageen-free 1/2 medium banana, optionally frozen for a creamier shake 1 scoop Dr. Kellyann’s Bone Broth Protein 1 tablespoon walnut oil or 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts Ice, add to blender or pour shake over ice, optional Directions Pour liquids into blender first then add all other ingredients. Blend well. If shake is too thick, add more water, coconut milk or almond milk to reach desired consistency. If you enjoy turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas (or any other time of year), don't just throw those precious bones away! Simmer them into some delicious holiday bone broth to help keep you fueled up and slimmed down between feasts. Ingredients: Turkey carcass (use the bones from your Thanksgiving feast!) Enough purified water to just cover the bones in the pot; the pot should be big enough to add 2 to 3 quarts water 2 to 4 carrots, scrubbed and roughly chopped 3 to 4 stalks organic celery, including leafy part, roughly chopped 1 medium onion, cut into large chunks Directions: Place your turkey carcass in a pot. Add onion, celery, a carrot or two, and any seasonings you like, cover your turkey bones with filtered water, then let your broth simmer for at least 6 to 8 hours on the stovetop or in a slow cooker.

Make Bone Broth fast with your pressure cooker or Instant Pot! If you have a pressure cooker or Instant Pot, it's easy to make a big batch of bone broth. Here's how to do it. Instant Pot: Dr. Kellyann's Classic Chicken Bone Broth Recipe This is based on my Back to Basics Bone Broth Recipe. Prep time: 14 mins • Cook time: 90 mins to 2 hours / 2 to 3 hours • Yield: Varies, about 1 gallon 2 or more pounds raw chicken bones/carcasses and additional wings, thighs or feet 2 unpeeled carrots, scrubbed and roughly chopped 2 stalks celery, including leafy part, roughly chopped 1 medium onion, roughly chopped 3 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed (optional) 2 teaspoons kosher salt 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar Directions Place the vegetables, garlic, bones, and bay leaves into your pressure cooker. Sprinkle on the salt, drizzle with vinegar, and add enough water to cover everything by 1 inch. Put on the cover and pressurize. Cook on high pressure for 90 minutes to 2 hours for chicken or turkey, and 2 to 3 hours for beef. When the cook time finishes, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release. Pour the broth through a fine strainer and discard the solids. Taste the broth and add more salt if needed. Chill the broth. It will keep for 3 days in the fridge and 3 months in your freezer. Enjoy!

Prep: 15 min • Cook: 90 min to 2 hrs • Yield: varies depending on pot size; these ingredients are sufficient for a gallon of broth Ingredients: 2 or more pounds raw* chicken bones/carcasses (from about 3 or 4 chickens)* 6 to 8 chicken feet or 1 pig’s foot* One whole chicken and additional wings or thighs, optional* 2 to 4 carrots, scrubbed and roughly chopped 3 to 4 stalks organic celery, including leafy part, roughly chopped 1 medium onion, cut into large chunks 1 tomato, cut into wedges (optional) 1 or 2 whole cloves garlic 2 teaspoons peppercorns ¼ to ½ cup apple cider vinegar, depending on the size of the pot Enough purified water to just cover the bones when they are in the pot Directions: Place all the bones, vegetables and the peppercorns in pressure cooker. Add the vinegar and enough purified water to cover everything by 1 inch. Cover pressure cooker and secure the lid. Cook on high heat and bring the pot up to its full pressure. This will likely take 10 – 15 minutes. Reduce the heat to maintain the pressure and cook for 90 to 120 minutes. Turn off the heat and allow the pressure cooker to release pressure naturally; about 15 minutes. Open pressure cooker and follow instructions for storage.

Non-Allergenic Chicken Bone Broth

Prep: 15 min • Cook: 2 hrs • Yield: varies depending on pot size; these ingredients are sufficient for a gallon of broth Ingredients: 2 or more pounds raw chicken bones/carcasses (from about 3 or 4 chickens) 6 to 8 chicken feet One whole chicken and additional wings or thighs, optional Enough purified water to just cover the bones when they are in the pot ¼ to ½ cup apple cider vinegar, depending on the size of the pot 2 to 4 carrots, scrubbed and roughly chopped 3 to 4 stalks organic celery, including leafy part, roughly chopped 1 or 2 whole cloves (optional) 2 teaspoons peppercorns 1 bunch parsley, add in the last hour Directions: Place all the bones in a slow cooker or large stockpot. Add the vinegar and enough purified water to cover everything by 1 inch. On medium heat, bring the water to a simmer. Use a shallow spoon to carefully skim the film off the top of the broth. Add carrots, celery, and spices and reduce the heat to low. You want the broth to barely simmer. Skim occasionally over the first 2 hours, and be sure the bones are always covered with water. You will have to add water during the cooking process. Simmer for at least 2 hours. When the broth is done, turn off the cooker or remove the pot from the heat. Using tongs and/or a large slotted spoon remove all the bones and the meat. Save the chicken for use in the broth or for another recipe. Pour the broth through a fine mesh strainer and discard the solids. Let cool on the counter before refrigerating. You can skim off the fat easily after the broth is chilled if desired. When chilled the broth should be very gelatinous. The broth will keep for 5 days in the refrigerator and 3 or more months in your freezer. Notes: (1) If it’s hard to get chicken bones from your butcher, you may be able to get backs and necks. (2) The number of pounds of bones will vary based on the size of your slow cooker or stock pot. You want the bones to fill the vessel so you can just cover them with water. If you have chicken bones from any leftover chicken, also add those. (3) You use chicken feet for the cartilage which is necessary for good broth and the health benefits of gelatin, collagen and calcium. If you use chicken feet, you need to remove the outer yellow skin if the butcher has not already done so. To do this, immerse in boiling water for about 10 to 20 seconds, and they will peel easily. If you boil them any longer, it’s nearly impossible to peel them because they become rubbery. It’s also easier to peel them before they are frozen. You can cut off the claws if you choose. (4)The chicken meat is optional, but I usually add it so I have the chicken for soup or another recipe. If you have favorite herbs, you can add them to the bone broth to enhance the flavor. Thyme is particularly nice with chicken broth. Since you might use the broth in a variety of recipes, I prefer not to salt it while cooking.
